Glenn Greenwald does a good piece on recent patsy-grooming here:

Dear Kurt & Lori, I wish I could have caught the broadcast on the thirteenth...... as I am wondering how you sound.. As a longtime traveler and foreign adventurer I have a lot of theories and experience(s).....And alot of experience with what I call "road burn".... It's like freezer burn of the soul.. AKA "culture shock"... Alvin Toffler' 1970 book, Future Shock. is a good map of of that world. I.m going to see if I can find the show in the pp archives..

Bedtime for me..... Thanks for your blog so those of us who follow your uncanny adventures and brave forays into the jungle of American political theater, travel and interesting living can keep up....Till next time, Tom from Detroit now on the Vineyard..

It as almost 3 years ago that Stars and Stripes quoted Kurt's statement to the court at the trial of Umar Abdulmutallab:

http://www.stripes.com/news/us/underwear-bomber-gets-multiple-life-sentences-1.168943

He told the judge, "Regardless of how media and government try to shape this case, I am convinced that Umar was given an intentionally defective bomb by a U.S. agent. It really saddens me that the government won’t admit its role in the event. Because of this case, I will never trust anything the government says, ever."

And it was at that point that I decide, I'll never accept, unskeptically, anything the US (or its controlled media) says. Ever.

You have no idea how gratifying it is to see that Kurt Haskell hasn't been intimidated into silence ... or worse.

Best of luck in your new lives outside the US. I moved my family to Canada in October 2005; no regrets.

Bob Moore: That Greenwald piece was very interesting; I had not seen it before.

It's happening here in Canada, too. There is a lot of resistance to the Harper government's anti-terrorism Bill C-51, essentially the Canadian equivalent of the US PATRIOT Act, and timed to the debate of that bill in Parliament, there have been a number of "foiled terrorists plots" or, in some cases, as in this one: http://bit.ly/1IGy2yq or this one: http://bit.ly/1Ha6fVW (closer to my home in Atlantic Canada) no plot at all, just arrests of Muslims and insinuations that those arrests foiled some undefined act of terror.

Canadians don't exhibit anything like the level of fear, approaching panic, that I saw in Americans before I left the US, but their reaction to this may be even more dangerous. Many feel that "something needs to be done; and our government is trying to do it." That unwarranted trust in the security state is far more dangerous, I feel, than any "radicalized Muslim."

Dear Mr & Mrs Haskell,

At your convenience, I would like to speak with you. The National Association of Airline Passengers is sponsoring a symposium on airport security October 6, 2015, at Reagan National Airport, Terminal A. We would like to have you as a speaker.

http://right2fly.net/event-2010908

The goal of the symposium is to examine airport security from the passengers point of view, and to develop a report and practical recommendations that can be presented to members of congress and the new TSA administrator, both to improve security and the passenger experience.

Location and date:

The symposium is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2015, at meeting rooms located in the old terminal building of National Airport:

About us:

Our organization was a member of the recent FAA committee on portable electronic devices (PEDARC).

http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/rulemaking/committees/documents/media/PED.ARC.Committee.Membership.02.05.2013.pdf

We were also a member of the Passenger Advocacy Subcommittee of TSA's Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) In that capacity, we prepared and submitted the attached minority report.

We were an amicus in EPIC's suit against TSA re body scanners.

Last year, we submitted a proposal to the FAA to set standards for airline passenger seats. Right now, the FAA has no standards limiting how small airline seats may be or how closely they may be spaced.
