Taken Over By Yellow

OK, seriously, our yard is being taken over by this yellow plant. It is EVERYWHERE. Out of the acres we have, prob about 25 of them are covered with this plant. It looks gorgeous walking on the paths, but I have on freaking clue what it is. And, we have never had it before. I am guessing some form of weed, but who the heck knows. Oh well, don't really care, I like it regardless...


Nothing too exciting happened today, an average day of work and school. Not much else going on, but I am trying to post every day to keep up with this thing, it's too hard to update when I procrastinate....

One Day--24 hours

Today was so busy. Sometimes, when I am sitting here at night, I don't really know how I do so much in one day.....Anyway, work this morning. Left to go to a doctor's appointment at 10 and while there waiting, read BARBRI stuff. Nothing like multitasking. Go me. HA. Anyway, short wait, so got back to the office around 1035 a.m. Then, worked more, had lunch with Kurty, and left to take Bugsy and Gretel to the vet with Kory. Bugsy was SO BAD. It was hilarious. He is obviously super spoiled because he did not like those vet techs messing with him, giving him shots.......But, they all loved him anyway...He is up to 3 pounds now. Gretel was angelic, as usual. She loves the vets and they all love her. But, after her appointment, they called me and I have to go back and get more meds because apparently, she has some form of parasite in her stool sample. Nothing serious, but I will have to find out more details about it when I call them back in the morning. Gretel weighed the same as last time, 15 pounds. The vet suggested we get her fixed now (should have at like 6 months), but I am really nervous about taking my dogs in after Daisy died from being put under (not at this vet, and a genetic defect with her, but still). So, I will prob schedule that soon........Then back to work and had class tonight, 3+ hours of fun fun Contracts. It actually was better than I anticipated.

Also have a ton of birds in our yard, that follow us around when we walk back there...

Anyway, that's about it for tonight. Just watched the Tigs win it and noww I need to head off for bed.

Picture Posting Probs

I have not posted in over a week because I was having issues posting pics to this site, and I could not figure it out. In fact, I still have not totally figured it out, but I switched over to Mozilla from Internet Explorer and the pics are uploading in Mozilla, so I guess I will just keep using this browser. Many I have talked to prefer it anyway, so perhaps I should just bite the bullet and switch to it totally. So, I added some pics to my last post, in case you want to see those, look below.

So, to recap on the past week, let's start with last Sunday. Gretel and I met up with Rebecca and Simon in Grosse Pointe Shores at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House for the walk ro raise funds for the Humane Society. We had a blast and Gretel was a freaking angel! She had never walked on a leash prior to that day and she did it like she has known how to her entire life! Simon was perfect as well, :). We had so much fun, and the entire way home, Gretel slept in my lap, she was SOO exhausted. I was so proud of her for being such a good girl.



The rest of the week has been tiring, as usual. BARBRI classes every night, and on one day, I had class for 7 hours straight because of a make-up session I had to do from Kurt being in the hospital that one night.

Kory's 21st b-day was on Tuesday night, and him and Kurt went out to celebrate. I met them at Pete's Garage around 1130 p.m., as I had previous plans to see Wicked at the Masonic with my Aunt. We had dinner at Seldom Blues beforehand and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I had a lobster meal, with shrimp/lobster bisque soup and we split mocha souffle for dessert. Yummy. I highly recommend the place to anyone who wants a nice night out. Plus, we got $25 off our meal with a coupon, and free dessert, so that was great. The show was incredible. It was one of the best ones I have ever seen. Maybe THE best. It wasa long, but it just flew by. AND, we had amazing seats, which rocked because the show sold out pretty much every night and day it was there.



Also, planted flowers last weekend. I have three huge pots on my bricks posts in front of the house, and a tiered flower thing on the front porch, so I bought flowers for all of those. They are really easy to plant, and already, a week later, are like double in size!


We also got the cars out and washed them, they both really needed it. It was fun to pull them in the yard and wash them.........

The pugs and Bugsy LOVED watching from the front door. So, of course, I had to snap a pic.

Saw a rainbow in our yard that same late afternoon, the weather was so weird that day, raining on and off, so this was pretty kewl.

That same night, Kurt and I with the puggies took a long walk in the yard and I shot this pic......Our yard is so incredible now. When we moved in, it was bare and farmland and since we have planted stuff and just let it go, we have so many trees and wildlife. It's turning into exactly what we wanted.

Kory put the solar lights I bought at the end of summer last year in by our sidewalk leading up to the front porch...they look SO good. And, buying them on eBay, I saved SO much money. Thanks Kory!


So, moving on to this weekend. Last night, we had dinner with Julia and Jay at Annam in Dearborn, one of my fav places. It is Vietnamese and awesome. Service and food both. We had a great time.



Both Saturday AND Sunday, I went hiking in Sterling State Park, which is up the street. I got some awesome shots, and posted them all to an online photo album. Click here to see it.


Last and final thing in this novel of a post, I am now a published photographer. A pic I took of Kurt in Red Rock Canyon was published in the Detroit News/Free Press last Sunday! The article, I need to put on here, but the pic that was published is below. I was so excited, and Kurt was harassed at court by other attys. HEHE.

Unknown Life

Today, Kurt and I were at Lowe's, and saw a new store being built next to Kohl's. Kurt asked me, "what is going in there?" I said "TJ Maxx...kewl, hun? It would be nice if I could actually GO to these new stores going in the area." Kurt said "Pretty soon, you will get to..."

Hun. The thought of having FREE time again, to randomly walk through a store that has just opened is really foreign to me. It's almost like I think this won't happen. I have been working so hard for the past three years (and for three years prior to that getting our business off the ground) that it does not seem true that I could have free time--but, I think I will! It will be amazing. Knowing me, I will find something new that will occupy my time, but one can always hope....LOL.

Have not posted in a while, I am always really tired when I get home at night from class.



Last Saturday, Kurt/Kory and I went to Royal Oak to have dinner at Katana and go to Comedy Castle with Rebecca. She met us at the restaurant and the food was awesome. It is a Japanese steakhouse, and kinda like Benihana. They make all the food right in front of you. We had sushi, and I had a shrimp meal. Kory tried a raw piece of sushi and loved it....Kurt thinks he is nuts, haha. The comedy show was great, and the club was the best I have ever been to..AND the tickets were free. I won them through their website. The comedians were hilarious and I even had a drink. Yes, my friends, I did! LOL. I rarely drink, but i had a great strawberry daiquiri. Kurt was driving, so I figured, what the heck?? Click here to see pics from the night.



Sunday was fun...We went to a Tigers game against the Indians. They lost their first game in a while..We had amazing seats in the infield box, right behind home plate. So, even though we lost, I got some amazing shots of the players during the game, which was nice. It was SO hot that day though and by the time we got home, we were all exhausted. We went and got ice cream down the street, but the heat kinda gave me a headache so I took a short nap. Click here to see pics from the game.



We bought 10 new trees from the nursery as well, they are Willow Oaks. Kurt and Kory planted them on Memorial Day in the yard and they all look awesome. Speaking of trees, our yard is becoming so kewl. When we moved in, the previous owner had been farming out our land. We stopped that, but the entire yard was pretty bare. Well, in the past three years, with our planting trees, and the yard being allowed to grow instead of being farmed--the yard has flourished. We have a ton of trees that have grown in the wild, and the animal life in the yard is incredible.

The rest of the week was really tiring. Kurt's stomach/side has been hurting him for a while, but he just thought it was stress, etc. Well, he was supposed to leave for Nashville on Tuesday night and while at the airport, his side started hurting so much he could not walk. Then, his flight got cancelled because of thunderstorms in Chicago (his layover). So, he left and called me at school to tell me he was checking himself into the hospital. So, I left school and met him and Kory there. By the time I got there (I was driving from Detroit to Monroe), they had already done blood work and xrays. They decided they wanted to keep him overnight for observation and a CT scan. By the time morning came, they still had not found anything. They thought it was his appendix or kidney stones. Ruled out his appendix, but kidney stones was inconclusive. The ER is really frustrating. Everything was super slow, and it's like, if you are not DYING, they don't really care what is wrong with you. So, I made Kurt an appointment with our normal doctor so he can be referred to a specialist. He flew out that night to Nashville. Everyone there was really concerned about him and shocked he even made the conference, knowing he had spent the night in the hospital.

This weekend has been fairly relaxing. Tomorrow is the mutt murch for Humane Society, thanks again to everyone who donated. I am sure I will have some pics for the site tomorrow.....

Make the Insanity Stop

OK, my bar review courses are offially killing me. Since i have not blogged in about one week, this should be obvious to some....Anyway, I started BARBRI on Monday. Every night, from 6:00 p.m. until 9::30 p.m. (Sometimes later). I am on day four and i am SOOO tired. Kurt finally, on his own, decided that something needs to change or I am going to have a mental breakdown by the end of summer. I simply can't study, work full-time AND attend these freaking classes. I am only home for literally about 2 waking hours a day. So, we changed around our secretaries' schedules so someone will be working every day, all day long. This way, I can work less, and sometimes do to class during the morning hours. This will help me so much and I am so relieved. I just have to make it through one more class tomorrow night. It's subject is Professional Responsibility, which iss somewhat interesting.

Sooo, since my last blog, what have we done....Last Friday night, Kurt, Kory and I went to Crave to celebrate my birthday as well as graduation. Crave is so awesome, my fav restaurant by far. Kory had never eaten Japanese food, so it was fun to let him try it, and he loved it AND Crave. The food was incredible, as usual. I wish I had time to go there more often.



Saturday, I had class, but then that night, we had dinner with my sister, her fiance, Jim, and his two kids, as well as my Auntie and my Grama. I had never met the kids before, and they were so sweet and fun. We had a blast at dinner and the house. The kids loved the pugs and Busgy.



Sunday, I had class. Kurt and Kory went to the Tigers game...I was jealous! ;).

This rest has pretty much consisted of class. Kurt and Kory planted 16 new pine trees in the yard and bought all the supplies to do the gym in the basement. Everything was delivered, but they have not started yet. I can't wait until that is done too.......

Think of the Positive

OK, I am trying to draft a really upbeat post here, because I have been exhausted all week from this bar review class. Love the class, hate the time I have to put into it...but, like I said before, worth every minute. I totally can see how the class benefits those who take it, it's doing wonders for me. Today, the lecture was Property. Great lecture, but BORING. And the guy teaches is hilarious, it's the material that was not that exciting. Tomorrow is Torts, so hopefully I will like it more.....Did all my homework for tomrrow's class tonight so I can work in the morning. Yay.

I so love Spring, and I really wish I could enjoy it! I want to go take pictures this weekend and hike, and instead I am stuck in a huge lecture hall in Cobo Arena learning about Con Law and Evidence....................

The Fun Never Stops

Happy Birthday to Me!! :). I am so exhausted that we are not going to celebreate until later, maybe this weekend. This week has totally worn me out........

Graduation was Monday night! I officially had a J.D. Crazy, hun? It still does not seem real to me....Anyway, the day was fun. I got to leave work after half a day, and then we went home. My Grama/Grampa, Mom/Ronnie got here around 2:30 p.m. and my grandparents got to see the house which they have never been to before. Then, we all went to an early dinner at Red Lobster. After that, Aunt Karen and my other Grama met us at our house and we all left in two cars together. My Dad, Julia and Jay met us down there. The ceremony was long and pretty boring. I was most concerned with tripping in my heels on the stage, so once I did not do that, I was psyched. Kurt was convinced I would since I rarely wear heels, LOL. He said he was ready with the camera to photograph my embarassing moment, but it did not happen so HA! Afterwards, there was a really nice reception at the Opera House and we took more pics.

The very next morning, I had to start my bar review courses. I had to leave the house at 730 a.m., and have had class each day since. Love the classes. Very, very helpful and I am so glad I took this. Many students only take BARBRI, but this PMBR class is superb. I am being so well refreshed in all this subjects I took like three years ago now......Today was Contracts, yesterday was Criminal Law. Tomorrow is Property. Yuck.

Anyway, I am going to sign off since I am exhausted and need to get some more work done before we leave.

No More Finals, but the Studying Never Stops.....

So.....finished my last two finals last Tuesday. I had two finals in the same day, which was no fun at all. Basically three hours of writing, then a short break, three more hours of writing. Anyone thinking about attending law school in the future, please keep in mind that each exam period, you will have bruised fingers and thumbs and almost have an exhaustion breakdown.........I was so tired at the end of the day.

Since then, life has been a blur and a combination of trying to catch things up at the office and trying to find sanity again, with a splash of trying to relax. I only have one week from my last final until the first day of bar review courses. What really sucks is that the first day of bar review courses is literally the morning after graduation, which is May 15. I picked up my cap and gown on Tuesday, and bought an outfit to wear this weekend at Elder Beerman. Really cute dress and awesome shoes, they are actually comfy after a night of wear. The graduation is being held at the Detroit Opera House, so I hope the temp there is good, and I don't have to stand too much....

Had a great weekend. Friday night, we took Kory to dinner at La Shish in Dearborn, to have dinner with Julia and Jay. He had never had Lebanese food, and really liked it. Even tried Jay's "kibbe nayee", which is basically raw lamb. Saturday night, we went to dinner with Kory, Cliff and Lisa, in Ann Arbor at Seva, a vegetarian restaurant, that was superb. Then, we went to the comedy club underneath Seva, called Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. The first comedian was AWFUL, but the second two were funny. We rated the show average, but Kory loved it since it was his first comedy show ever. :). Today, we had dinner with Grama, Aunt Karen, my Dad, and Kory at Quatro's in Monroe. Food was great, but the service was below par, our waitress was kinda rude, which is so rare there. I think she must have been stressed but still. What a beyotch.

Oh, two weekends ago, Kurt and Kory bought and planted 9 Birch trees, 20 feet tall each. They look awesome in the backyard and since it has been raining nonstop since, hopefully they are rooting in really well.

Anyway, off to bed. I am exhausted and have a long week in front of me......

Birthdays

I love Spring. Yay, yay, and more yay! I so love all the flowers blooming, grass growing, allergies and Kurt sneezing....OK, wait, ignore that last part. HA.



Went to dinner for my Aunt's birthday tonight in Belleville at a place right on the water. Been there before, but it's renamed and newly bought out. Anyway, great food and awesome view. I highly recommend......

Today was Bugsy Siegel's last day as the office kitty. I think. He is so cute at the office though, I love having him there. But he far too spoiled for sure. All our employees love him and every client that walks in the door wants to hold or take him home.......Check Bugsy out in the printer:



Bugs is doing so much better at the house too. He recently found a pot to hide in, and would reach out and hit Vito every so often:

One Down, Three to Go.....

So, I took my first final of the Final Four last night. I have deemed my last four finals that term as of right now, :). Last night was Constitutional Law II. The one I was the most nervous about because our prof is a freaking Con Law genious and nothing I could possibly say could even be close to the right answer.....But, it was 4 essay questions. I was glad for the 4, as I hate the exams with like 2 questions (as he mentioned in class it may be). Three hour exam, and I turned mine in at the two minute warning. One down, three to go...............my next one is Criminal Procedure I, which is Wednesday afternoon and the other two are next week Tuesday. So, I get to spend yet another weekend studying for school. Blah on school. At least these are my last exams! Hurrah! :).

Kory, our nephew (Kurt's sister's son), moved in with us on Friday. He is 20, almost 21. He and Kurt want to start some businesses together--Kory has time, Kurt has ideas and money. So, their combined effort will hopefully increase my net income for the year. So far, Kurt has just been having Kory do some things around the house--he mowed the lawn yesterday, is staining trim today. Yay for things getting done around my house! :).

I studied most of the weekend, which Kurt and Kory got to attend an awesome Tigers game with 18 runs scored by our team! I wish I could have gone, but I am sure I will be going to some games before long with Rebecca joining us! :). Right, Rebecca?

Bugsy has still been coming to work with us every day. I am unsure if this is necessary or not, as he is getting along better with the pugs, but, I think Kurt and I actually like having him here. (Don't tell).

Anyway, back to studying. Will try and update more later, when I have time to do it and I am not just procrastinating.

Favors

Scene: Kurt is leaving the office with Bugsy and Lori is leaving for school, not to get home until 9:00 p.m.

Lori: "Honey, can you do me a favor?"

Kurt: "Maybe......depends on what it is..."

Lori: "I won't be home until 9:00 p.m. and need a prescription picked up. can you get it?"

Kurt: "I knew you were going to ask me to do that." (Smiling)

Lori: "How did you know that?"

Kurt: "because that's the only favor you ever ask me to do for you....."

I was thinking about this on my way to school and started laughing. Can anyone tell who does pretty much everything in our household? LOL. At least he admits it. ;).

The Weekend

So, had a pretty busy weekend.

Friday night, Kurt and I went to dinner, then went to Target and finally bought an iPod! Kurt has been wanting one for various reasons--in the car, on the plane, etc., and I wanted one for running outside when I do that. Or on the treadmill when nothing good is on TV. So, I had been researching and trying to figure out which one was the best. I started out skeptical about iPods because I did not want to buy something simply because it is the "cool" brand, or because that is what everyone else has. I wanted the best one on the market, period. But, from all the research I did, I could rarely find ANYTHING negative about iPods, which other brands seemed to have more downfalls. Soooooo, we got the Ipod Nano 4GB. It holds 1000 songs. We were going to get one that held less songs, but figured with 1000, we will rarely, if ever, have to erase anything. Also bought the cutest little carrier for it that is turquoise. Kurt would not let me get a pink iPod, but he caved a little with the color of the carrier. ;). Anyway, downloaded all the software and bought 4 songs from itunes to test it out. Awesome, awesome sound quality and the technology is incredible. I then started downloading my cds to my computer, and putting them on the iPod. This is going to take a really long time, but wanted to get it going. So, to sum it up, love the iPod and highly recommend. I will post more as I figure out the tricks to the thing. It appears I can put photos on it, as well as an address book and calendar. Crazy.

Saturday, I went to Utica to meet up with my sister for lunch and shopping. We went to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch and to a couple stores shopping. She had to be back to her hotel at 4:30 p.m. to meet up with her fiance. So, I got a cute pair of capri workout pants at Dunham's and also got a car air freshener and batteries at Bed Bath and Beyond (I know, exciting purchases, LOL, but things I needed). Came home, and had to almost immediately get ready for dinner in Canton with my Aunt, sister, her fiance, and Kurt. We went to Max and Erma's, and had a great time. My sister and I always crack eachother and everyone else up with our stories about growing up. Her ring is beautiful that Jim bought her, and she is starting to talk about planning her wedding which is fun. I guess as of now, the bridesmaid dresses are going to be silver, and the wedding colors silver and white. Jim will wear his military uniform. I wish I lived up there so I could help more, because she really needs to get going on this and I really think she has no idea where to start. And everyone knows I love planning things, LOL. She has a ton of friends getting married the same year as her and she is in all the weddings, so her year is going to be crazy busy.

The picture below cracked us up. Oscar had just come in from playing outside and was SOOO out of breath, but SOOO happy at the same time. We thought it appeared he was smiling.......Who says dogs don't smile?

Today, I have been lounging around the house. It is raining outside, so I could not really get outside to take any Spring pictures. I took this one yesterday in the yard though, just to display COLOR. Yay for color coming back.

I tried to get some laundry done, but I think I need lazy days once in a while. The kitten is really starting to come out more often and "trying" to play with the pugs, but Gretel is a little rough with him still. Oscar and Vito are doing great though. Just so you know, kittens have a really hard life.

Bugsy's Progress

Bugsy had his first vet appointment yesterday. He weighs a whopping 1.05 pounds. And I think he has grown since we got him! The vet said she thought it was funny that we got a cat with a "smooshed face", since we already have dogs with smooshed noses! He has a little bit of a cold (no fever), so they gave him some eye drops and an antibiotic to take before he gets his first shots.

So, far, he is fitting in nicely at the house. He is still kinda nervous of the pugs, but every night, he is starting to play with them more and more, for short periods of time (until he runs under the couch to hide from them again).

Kurt is really jealous because the baby likes to sleep right next to me, next to my neck and on my hair. Kurt keeps trying to get him to sleep by him, and he is having nothing to do with that! I guess he is going to be a Momma's boy.

He has been coming to the office every day with us because we don't want to leave him home alone yet. He is a great office kitty, mostly sleeping all day and hanging out on my lap. I will miss it when I can't bring him here anymore! :).

Household Annoucement and Introduction

So, Kurty and I went after work to a place in Plymouth to buy a new......kitten! Yay!

Please welcome Bugsy Siegel Haskell to our world! Bugsy is a cream and orange colored purebred Persian kitten and just as cute as can be. He was born on Feb 27, and adorable. I have, of course, taken pics of him, which can be seen by clicking here.

After we picked out the kitty (I had wanted a female, but was really drawn to Bugsy for some reason), we went to the pet store to stock up on kitten supplies.

Came home, and the pugs met Bugsy for the first time. Bugsy was a little nervous of them for the majority of the night, but now he has been on the floor walking around and is getting better every second!



Also have been seeing a ton of Spring bunnies outside. I wanted to take pics because they were right next to the porch, but opening our doors would have scared them, so I attempted a pic through the glass.



Overall, what a great night. Happy Good Friday to everyone who celebrates!

Shiny New Running Shoes.....

About two weeks ago, I started running hardcore again. Every night. While in Vegas, since I was doing other things, I relaxed, but now that I am back and caught up on sleep, I am planning on starting again in a few minutes.

And, on my front porch today was a new pair of Asics I ordered. Asics are by far, in my opinion, the best running shoe. And I have tried most of them. Click here to see which ones I got this time. I had a gift card to use at Amazon, so I got these for practically nothing, yay.

So, I am getting pretty psyched about school almost being done. I only have like three days of classes left and then finals. The only thing that sucks about this is studying for finals. Blah is all I have to say about that.

Finished a great book while on vacay, during the plane trip, etc. Called Lovers and Players, by Jackie Collins. Just great, non-thinking kinda reading, which is so what I need when I am away from work and school. Anyway, I highly recommend. To order, click here.

Las Vegas Details--Finally

Soooo, our Vegas trip was awesome. We were slammed at the office and such prior to leaving, so I feel as if I have not posted in forever! Sorry! ;).

We left on Friday night after dropping the pugs off. We were flying Northwest and had a really short layover in Madison, so I was kinda nervous because we have had nothing but bad experiences with them. But, no reason to be apprehensive……Everything was right on time. We landed in Madison and had time to grab a quick bite to eat, so we ate at a little bar called The Great Dane. Had some nachos and soup, then left for Vegas. Landed there, no prob, got our rental car from Alamo, and headed to the Strip! We were staying at the Palace Station. I love the place because it is off strip and easy to get to. But, I was assuming we would be able to upgrade our room. I don’t like the lower end rooms there, wanted a tower room. Well, since it was Friday night, they were sold out and we were stuck at a far away courtyard room. BLAH. Went to the room and went straight to bed, we were exhausted from flying and the time change. Of course, I slept awful. The room was only on the 2nd floor and we heard every bit of traffic and people outside our room were loud…

So, in the morning, I immediately called to see if any Tower rooms had opened and thankfully, they had. So, while waiting for a new room, we played some BlackJack and Craps. The dealer killed us. Every time we got 19 or 20, so did he, or he got 21. Blah. Got our room, then had lunch at a Hong Kong style restaurant in the hotel. Our food was awesome. After that, headed to Imperial Palace for Poker. After playing Poker all day, we headed to the Billy Joel concert at MGM Grand. We had amazing seats and the concert was incredible. Billy Joel is my fav and he sang and performed for 2.5 hours. I could have not asked for more. Oh wait, yes, I could. I wanted him to perform Just The Way You Are, and he did not. But that’s OK, he pretty much sang every other song I love, including ending with my fav, Piano Man. Yay. After the concert, we were exhausted, so we went back to the hotel and to bed.

The next day, we went to Imperial Palace and played Poker, bought into a tournament. Kurt and I both ended up placing--he got 4th and I got 7th. So, we made like $400.00 there which was awesome. Afterwards, we went to dinner at a great Mexican place that was recommended, called Lindo Michoean (sp?) and it was literally the kewlest little Mexican place I have ever eaten at and hands down the best service we have ever received at a restaurant. I had shrimp fajitas and we split fried ice cream for dessert. I was so full afterwards.

The next morning, we went hiking at Red Rock. Had a great time. Since we had been there once before, we knew which trails we liked, and walked those. I took a ton of pictures. Click here to see them. After that, had lunch at a great place called Mayflower Cuisiner, which was Vietnamese/Chinese/French Fusion and yet again, awesome. I am so liking this venturing off strip to try new places because they are even better than the food on the Strip. I had sea bass there and it was to die for. Later, we bought into another tournament and I ended up getting 2nd place! Kurt got 8th, but it did not pay anything. I got $600!!! I almost got first, but was totally happy with 2nd. J. After that, had dinner at Ceasar’s Buffet, then headed back to our hotel and played some more poker.

The next day was our last. We slept in, which we needed since we both drank a little bit too much the night before……Speaking of that, had this great new drink called a Grasshopper. Highly recommend. Played poker the entire day at Flamingo, Palms, and Harrah’s. Love Harrah’s poker room. They have TV’s everywhere, so we could watch games and play cards, which is like Kurt’s dream, LOL. Played in another tourney at Flamingo, but neither one of us placed. Had dinner at a Japanese place in Flamingo, and again, food was awesome. I had a shrimp and veggie entrée. So, we totally did not want to leave, but alas, we had to. Our flight was delayed about an hour, so we surfed the net and read at the airport…..Now we are home and exhausted! Need to get to bed……

Belle Isle--Hidden Treasure

Soooo, today Rebecca and I sauntered to Belle Isle to check it out. My Aunt told me that it would be a great place for my to take pics, and I was curious and I have never been there. I wish I could have gone back when the wonderful city of Detroit actually kept it up. It is almost like an old, abandoned building--beautiful, yet sad because nobody is taking care of it. Rebecca and I walked around and took pics for a long while, and I fell in love with the area. Click here to see my pics. My fav is the one I posted with this entry. Afterwards, Rebecca took me to this awesome spot in Royal Oak for Mexican food and I had awesome cajun tuna fajitas. umm, they were totally incredible and I cant wait to go back. Wow.

Came home and Kurt got my treadmill back out. We were storing it as we want to take it into the basement to what will be the "workout room", but we need another guy to get it down there. Brought it into the computer room near the TV and I started my workouts again. Did 2.25 Miles, as well as about 150 situps, about 30 pushups and some other various things. It felt really good. I am going to try really hard to keep up on it, but it's hard when I don't get home most nights until after 9 p.m.

Had a great day on Saturday. First, I had an appointment at a laser eye surgery place in Monroe. They said I would be a great candidate, but I think I kinda want to wait until after I take the bar. It would just figure that I would have complications which would hinder my studies.......After that, I had a pedicure to prepare for my Vegas trip next week (leaving on Friday, I don't think I blogged about that yet either). Then, I stopped at a pet store and bought the pugs some new food, as well as new collars for Vito and Oscar and some new treats and toys. Oscar's new collar is orange and Vito's is black. They look so handsome. I was driving around after that and decided I was going to get my first manicure. For the past two weeks, I have LEFT my nails alone. Not torn them once. And, I am actually starting to have little nails appear! I know, it's a miracle, but it is happening. So, I went into this adorable little hole in the wall place where they barely spoke English, and got my first manicure. Loved the place, and my nails actually look acceptable! Maybe even good! I was so pleased. Had dinner with Kurt that night. Great day and night.



Back to Vegas, we booked a trip! I can't freaking wait to leave. And even better (if anything can be better than a little get away), I am seeing FREAKING Billy Joel while I am there! I bought tickets and am beyond excited. It is seriously my dream concert to see Billy Joel live by himself (saw him once with Elton John). I don't know what I am more excited about....Vegas or the concert. I am excited to go hiking and take some pics at the canyon.

Lazy Sundays

I love Sundays like yesterday. Kurt and I basically sat on the couches all day long and did pretty much nothing. I did throw in some laundry and pick up some odds and ends in the house, but other than that, sat on the couch, read books, surfed the net, and watched TV. Incredible game, the UConn v George Mason game. Gotta love the underdog winning.

Sigh. Now I am back to the grind and it sucks. I am about to plan a short vacay though, so that's one positive thing.....

I Predict......It's Saturday

So, I met up with Rebecca this afternoon to visit a psychic that she has seen before, in Southgate. It was an interesting experience, but I am not a believer yet....I specifically did not wear my wedding ring or law school ring in, because I wanted to know what she would say without having ideas about me at all ahead of time. Well, some of the things she said were true, some not. And all the things she said that were true were really vague. Like I mean, saying I am stressed out, etc. could really apply to anyone. Saying that I am making changes in my career was true, but I mean, that could also apply to anyone. She did not say anything specifically geared directly to my life. So, anyway, had a really good time, which I always do with Rebecca, but do not feel I gained any real insight into my future self. Which is fine. :). Afterwards, had lunch at Black Pine Tree. I had a yummy volcano roll and some crab appetizer with miso soup.

Now I am home and on here trying not to do laundry, so I guess I should go do that. Or something.

The Rest of the Week

I had kinda a hard week, so posting has been light.....

The first week back after Spring Break. It not easy. I wanted to skip class every day, but I made it to every single one. I was not happy being there, but I was there.

Toby took a turn for the worse again this week. Most of you prob remember that we almost had to put him to sleep in Jan and meds made him better temporarily. Well, that stopped this week. He stopped eating again and was miserable. So, we had to take him in and I think it was one of the hardest things Kurt has ever had to do. He has had Toby since he was 19 years old (Toby's 16th b-day would have been March 28). I think it was slightest easier because we knew he was sick and we did not want him to suffer anymore, but the whold situation sucks. We are having him privately cremated (which we did with both Daisy and Pugsley as well) and are going to bury him someplace in the yard near a tree, and I will most likely name the tree "Tobias". Anyway, enough on that. Toby, we love you and hope you are having a great time in doggy heaven with Pugsley and Daisy Lou. :(.

We are unsure if we are going to get a new cat or not. Kurt has kinda left it up to me. I know it might make us feel better, as a new baby usually does, but I think I have enough going on right now with work, school, and already owning three young doggies. Maybe when the pugs are slightly older, I will get one. I worry too because people just fly by our house in their cars, and I don't want to constantly worry about a kitten. I can't deal with another animal death, we have had two in the past year.

Now that we don't have to give Toby meds every day, I think we are going to plan a Vegas weekend. We talked to the dogs babysitter who have us the go ahead, so I have been researching online and am thinking maybe the second weekend in April. I will keep everyone posted. I really want to go hiking when we go back to take pics, and the weather is perfect there right now for it, not too hot.

Last night, Kurt and I went to Applebee's and I, GASP, had a drink. I never really drink, so it was kinda weird. The drink was awesome. It was called a Sobe Energizer and had this energizer drink in it as well as Midori Melon, ginger ale, and OJ. Anyway, loved it, highly recommend it.

So, I gotta start getting ready now. I am meeting Rebecca at the office shortly, and I will post more about that later.

The Weekdays are hard for me with posting......

I thought I would be really on top of blogging this week, since I had no school at night, but this obviously is not true. I do feel rested though, but not ready to start class again. I guess I just need to keep thinking "I am almost done, I am almost done...."

I have a new goal. My one nervous habit is picking at my fingernails. I don't even think about that I am doing it, but then all the sudden my nails are nonexistent and look like crap. I have decided that I can't be in court arguing cases, or meeting with clients, and have crappy looking nails, so I am starting right now. NO MORE PICKING AT MY NAILS. Once I get them so they have any length at all, I am going to go in and get a manicure. Then, I know, I won't touch them, because they will be all pretty, and then I will just go on a regular basis. I swear, I can do this! My Mom told me a while back if she could quit smoking, I can quit doing this. So, I am doing this for my Mom! :).

So, the rest of the week was pretty busy.

Friday night, we had dinner with Cliff and Lisa in Canton at an Indian place called Ashoka. It was really yummy. I had a very spicy shrimp meal, and Kurt had some spicy shrimp meal. We always have a great time with Cliff and Lisa, and I think Kurt is trying to turn Cliff into a tech geek like him because by the time dinner was up, Cliff was ready to go out and buy a wifi router and Treo phone. Kurt was showing him our phone at dinner and how it surfs the net, etc.

Saturday, Kurt and I went out and looked at some potential homes to flip, and still kinda like the first one we looked at a couple weekends back. We hired a guy to look at the foundation, and he said it is repairable, so now Kurt is going to have his brother look at it to see what he thinks. I think it could be a really great profit. I went to SAMS Club on Saturday afternoon as well, because I never remember to go there and I found some great deals.



Oh, on Saturday, I went to go pick up my and Julia's candles from the party and Oscar got to meet his birth mother, Ming Lee, and younger (but full) sister, Maya. Maya was hilarious, she was totally harassing Oscar like Gretel does at home and poor Oscar was running away. I think Sherry really liked seeing Oscar too. Got my candles and can't wait to burn them at the office. Saturday night we had dinner at Applebee's. Kurt has been glued to the TV all weekend, watching college basketball. My team is still in it on my bracket!



We weighed the pugs yesterday. Gretel still only weighs 15 pounds which is tiny for a pug. Maya, Oscar's sister in Allen Park, weighs 20 pounds and she is younger than she is! Oscar came in at 30.5 and Vito is 31.5. Umm, that is way too much. Although, Oscar is is big dog and all muscle, thin; Vito is HUGE and the vet is going to kill us the next time we go in. Oh well, at least they are all happy, right? I think Vito is the happiest dog I have ever known.



Today, I have been working really hard on cleaning my laundry room and closet. I transferred so many clothes from the laundry room into the closet, and have thrown out a bunch of stuff, put some stuff in Purple Heart bags, etc. I am making a lot of progress but had to take a break to blog!

Saturday at the Pointe

So, Saturday, Kurt and I cleaned the house (which does not happen often) and Rebecca came over to meet Kurty and the pugs and Toby. We went to the outlet mall in Monroe because she had a gift card to use at the GAP. I ended up getting a few t-shirts there as well as a cheese grater at a kitchen store. Super Bowl Sunday, I wanted to grate some cheese and realized I did not own a cheese grater. Therefore, I have been on the lookout for one ever since. After that, we went to dinner in Luna Pier at a Mexican place we love and I ate entirely too much, I was so freaking full. It was a really fun, relaxing day.



Sunday, I went to Toys R Us (ugh, that store stressed me out) and then to Ben's birthday party in Troy at Chuckie Cheese! I got him some kewl Spiderman toys (that is his thing these days, according to Deanna) and took tons of pics. Check them out here. After that, headed to Somset because I wanted to walk through a couple stores I rarely get to go into, like Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, zGallerie, Hold Everything, Restoration Hardware. Fun, but I did not find anything I really wanted, so no purchases except a cherry Icee drink. Yum.

Came home, and Kurt and I took the Spyder out for a quick ride before we came home and made dinner. And now, the weather is freaking freezing again! I can't believe I just had the cars out and the weather was nice and now it is the typical Michigan winter weather again. Blah.

I can't freaking wait for Spring. I want to take pictures outside and take nature walks and see COLOR. Everything around our house is so blah right now. Yesterday, I went outside and took some pics of the skyline, because I was so excited to see some colors--anywhere!

Fun on Two Wheels

OK, unless you are Kurt, you won't get that title without further explanation.

OK, when Kurt left for court on Friday, I told him there was no way in hell he was winning the hearing. With family law, you can be the best lawyer there and if you have a lame case, it's going nowhere. Anyway, all of your arguments were stuff that happened forever ago, and I truly did not think the Judge was going to switch custody and limit parenting time based on our stuff, but hey, people hire us to fight for them and that's what we do. So.........F.T.W. Apparently, this is a universally known, , quote, but I had no idea what it meant. If anyone does not know and needs to, email me because I don't really feel comfortable posting here because of Blogger restrictions.

Judge: Mr. X (this is the opposing side in the case), do you have a tattoo?

Mr. X: Yes, your honor, it says F.T.W., which means "Fun on Two Wheels".

Judge: Rolls her eyes.

Anyway, Kurt won the hearing. He was gloating about it when he came back to the office, LOL. Whenever I give him a challenge with ANYTHING, he has to win! :).

Friday afternoon, we closed the office and came home. Took the pugs outside for one of their first long walks of the year.

One of my fav parts of the summer is taking walks in the backyard with the pugs. Yay for Spring!

Eye Brows

OK, I totally got almost everything on my list done last week! Including getting my eyebrows waxed, which makes me feel so much better. What was really funny is that the girl who does my eyebrows was asking advice on a custody case, and she may hire us! I told Kurt all these girlie things I pay for is worth it! :).

I am a Bad Person

I am a very bad person. I have sinned.

I skipped class tonight. Kurt is a bad influence, as he tells me to skip every day. I have not yet skipped this class, so I am OK with doing it this once. Instead of class, Kurt took me to Big Fish for dinner, which is my fav seafood place. I had my fav meal there. yum. service was great too, as it always is there. totally relaxing environment.

Came home and watched American Idol, which I normally don't get to watch. I really liked the chick who sang I'm Every Woman. She was incredible.

Other than that, work and school kept me busy today! :).
